Like Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, Bart Davenport has gone through many stages in his life. He has been a mod, bluesman, and soft rock singer. His latest album, Physical World, is the culmination of all these incarnations and more. With ‘60s shirts, ‘80s guitars, and a temporal voice of a real crooner, the record is a unique mix of Paisley Pop and blue-eyed Soul.

Micah P. Hinson arrives in Spain to present his seventh LP

Micah P. Hinson & The Nothing, in which the singer from Mephis turns towards sounds he places on the front porch of a farm off the beaten track and ballads for times of conflict, with settings adapted to a hypothetical sequel of  “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”.

The Coup

 The Coup’s first visit to Spain is as part of SON Estrella Galicia. Formed in 1991 in Oakland, California, The Coup is a musical mix of funk, punk, hip-hop and soul. The band led by Boots Riley, is characterised by its danceable music and social commentary lyrics.

Josh Rouse & The Long Vacations vs Violent Femmes

Date: Friday 9 May, 8pm

 Josh Rouse and his band, The Long Vacations, will play all the songs from Violent Femmes’ homonymous 1983 debut album. Another treat for music lovers within the We Used To Party season that brings out one of the key albums to understand and enjoy ‘80s rock at its most pressing and rawest.

The Autumn Defense

 The Autumn Defense began to grow at the end of the 90s. It started as a personal project of John Stirratt, Wilco’s bassist (and the only remaining founding member along with Jeff Tweedy), but time has consolidated the group in such a way that what started as a passing adventure, has become a parallel career for its creator.

Minor Alps

 For the last two decades, both Juliana Hatfield and Matthew Caws have had surprising musical careers, Caws with Nada Surf and Hatfield with Blake Babies, Some Girls and as a solo artist since 1992. Time has passed and here is this joint project, both coming together under the name of Minor Alps, and with a great record called Get There.

Vinila Von Bismark

 Vinila Von Bismark will present her first solo album, A place with no name, in Madrid. The artist from Granada takes a giant leap in her musical career, a brave step towards a much more personal style which, without leaving her wilder and rock side behind, demonstrates other nuances, tempos, and for the first time her lyrics show the fragility of the person behind the character.

The indie rock band from Ciudad de La Plata will present La Dinastía Scorpio, their new album made up of eleven songs that take on a new spectrum of sounds and offer a new imaginary, presenting a fresh, mysterious era and one of dark optimism.

Vacabou

Date: Tuesday 27 May, 10pm

Vacabou is a multifaceted pop duo from Mallorca, whose members are Joan Feliu and Pascale Saravelli. A bus journey from Las Vegas helps them to find the backbone, by chance, for their album The drums of twilight, where they subtly re-read and update the vast musical array from minimalist folk to baroque post-rock and electronic music.
