Announcing the winning start ups of the second edition of The Hop
Santiago de Compostela hosted the second edition of The Hop Awards, where the six winning start-ups that will enjoy three months of acceleration within the community of Estrella Galicia were announced.
iCommunity Labs, Liight, Passion Motorbike Factory, 6DLAB, SStrategy and Watson, have been selected from among 271 applications submitted, with the aim of accompanying them in their development and developing projects with an impact on our value chain, collaborating with the internal talent of the organization.
The start ups iCommunity Labs, Liight, Passion Motorbike Factory, 6DLAB, SStrategy and Watson have been selected to be part of the second edition of The Hop, our company’sCollaborative Entrepreneurship Programme.
The ‘The Hop Awards’were held in Santiago de Compostela, in a gala in which twelve finalist start-ups, which had previously been selected from over 270 candidates, presented their projects to an expert committee, consisting of more than 30 in house and external professionals.
The jury has announced the six start-upsthat will be part of the three-month programme, where they will participate in a personalized acceleration planand will have the opportunity to develop a pilot projectwithin the ecosystem of Hijos de Rivera, valued up to €20,000. In addition, the six teams will have access to Espazo The Hop, a unique physical innovation environment in Madrid, where they can develop their projects.
Under the slogan ‘Saltemos juntos, saltemos más lejos’(“Let’s jump together, let’s jump further”) thesecond edition of The Hop kicked off within our Digital Transformation Plan with the aim of collaborating with external talent, turning open innovation into a competitive advantage, as Ignacio Rivera, CEO of Hijos de Riverasaid at the gala, “The Hop represents our nonconformist spirit, since it allows us to do things in a different way to the traditional. For Estrella Galicia it has meant a very important cultural change and continuous learning, helping us to implement projects with an impact on our value chain in a much more agile and faster way”.
Juan José Delgado, Chief Digital Officer of the company,and one of those responsible for The Hop, added “The Hop allows us to test new business models and disruptive technologies, anticipating the changes that occur in the sector. This project has been, right from the start, another step in our digital transformation process”.
The 12 finalist start ups of this edition, the 6 winners of the previous edition and the 5 companies that have been selected to participate in the The Hop Brazil programme, recently launched by Estrella Galicia in that country, participated in the event.
These are the six winning start-ups of the 2nd edition of The Hop
The Hophas selected six Spanish technology-digital start-ups in the growth phasewith the aim of them adding value to Estrella Galiciaand developing their pilot projects, as the winning start-ups of the first edition have done, who also managed to: increase their turnover by over 30%,doubling their equipmentand even closing a round of financing of 1 million eurosduring the acceleration process.
▪iCommunity Labs, is an ecosystem of services and block chain tools designed to meet the needs of companies, simplifying and saving costs in their implementation.
▪Passion Motorbike Factory, which allows last-mile delivery companies to increase their deliveries by 30% per hourwith more sustainable and smaller vehicles.
▪The Watson appproposal, which allows restaurant customers to order and pay from their mobiles, whether they want to eat in the restaurant or take away.
▪The SStrategystart-up, which allows companies to access the subscription system
▪6DLAB, specialized in the development of customized technological solutions through immersive technologies, such as augmented reality or 3D.
On this occasion The Hop has also sought technological-digital start-ups whose purpose was to focus value on societyand help meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
▪The Liightapp, which offers rewards to the user for performing sustainable actions, such as cinema tickets, technology, fashion, leisure plans, etc.
About The Hop
- The Hop is the Collaborative Entrepreneurship Programme within Estrella Galicia’s Digital Transformation Plan.
- There were over 400 entrepreneurs and 130 proposals in the first edition of registered The Hop. Trucksters, Talentoo, Flexsas, SuperTech, Data Monitoring and Tappy were the accelerated start-ups.
- Recently, The Hop presented its second edition in Spain, aimed at technological-digital start-ups in the growth stage that offer value in industry 4.0, and has launched the first edition of the programme in Brazil.
- Altogether, in the three editions, over 600 entrepreneurs have participated in the selection process.
