Marta Alvarez is a farmer. Along with Merce and Chus, she has managed to make  Granxa Maruxa, she has managed to make Granxa Maruxa a reference for rural entrepreneurship and a place worth visiting.

Thanks to them we have, once again, the taste of cream biscuits (“galletas de nata”), like our grandmothers used to make.  But if the Maruxas are delicious, it’s an even better experience to enter into a farm that breaks with the all the possible stereotypes. Granxa Maruxa is closer to an oasis of calm than to a work-place in which there is always work to be done.

However, the story of  Granxa Maruxa is not an easy one, and although, initially, it doesn’t have the media appeal of a garage in Silicon Valley, Marta breaks down our stereotypes, and with her friendly and down-to-earth personality wins us over in this inspiring talk in which she retells the hard work, suffering and achievements of a female entrepreneur on a farm in Monterroso.

The basic ingredient of  Granxa Maruxa success is hard work.  As Marta herself tells us, “without the resilience, perseverance, and hard work with which we began the project, nowadays the biscuit factory would be shut”.

Don’t miss Marta Alzarez’s entertaining and inspirational talk at these first Mercado de la Cosecha.
