Wide choice of activities at the Forum Gastronomico Coruña ’14


The Fórum Gastronómico Coruña’14. will be held from the 23rd to 25th of February. The gastronomy fair, an event of national reference in Spain, will be held for the first time ever in A Coruña. Estrella Galicia will be present at this new edition of the gastronomy fair, to be held in Expocoruña, as a main sponsor and with a diverse stand and a number of activities to be carried out throughout the duration of the fair. 

The Forum Gastronomico de Galicia will see the first  Estrella Galicia Galician Draught Beer Pulling Championship  on Monday 24 February.  This competition, the first of its kind to be held in Galicia, will take place throughout the morning at our stand and will have 30 participants. It is coordinated and supervised by Fernando Iglesias, Market Quality Manager of Hijos de Rivera SAU. The jury will be made up of beer pulling, catering, and gastronomy experts, who will be in charge of evaluating quality, efficacy and speed of service as well as the candidates’ knowledge of the characteristics of our range of products.

Alongside this championship, we will also inaugurate a new Beer Master Sessions exhibition programme, which will cover all the initiatives promoted by our company with the aim of improving the level of professionalism and excellence in the art of beer serving, through contests, master classes, courses, food pairings and beer pulling exhibitions.

The day before, On Sunday February 23, there will be a Co-cooking and Beer event. This is a Show Cooking using our beers delivered by the chefs from  Abastos 2.0 and A Táfona de Santiago in Santiago de Compostela.  Besides this, on Tuesday February 25, Fernando Iglesias, Market Quality Manager of Hijos de Rivera, SAU, will offer a tasting session of our national and international beers, harmonising flavours of beer and national and international cheeses.  Other activities of note organised by our company at the Forum will be the presentation of our imported beers and a tasting session of our Ponte da Boga wines.

The Forum Gastronomico will also carry out numerous activities for the consumer in a number of premises throughout the city of A Coruña.  The   Fórum Ciudad offers a wide range of activities for all ages for 12 days.  Among them can be found “Tapas del Forum”, which enables the consumer to try tapas at €2 in 60 bars in different areas of A Coruña as of this Friday; “Menus del Forum”, which are special meals prepared for the occasion; “Cocido en los Mercados”, on Saturday 22 February, in which a traditional dish of this time of year (“Cocido”) will be prepared in San Agustin market, and can be tried, free, in five of the cities markets (San Agustin, Conchiñas, Monte Alto, Plaza de Lugo, and Elviña); or “Noches del Forum”, which will enable consumers to enjoy a Copa Forum drink from Friday 14 to 25 of February, from 10pm to 1.30am in any of the 15 participating bars.
