Xose Luis defends his pride in being from a village, at the Harvest Market Roundtables

Xose Luis manages well when he can establish a rapport with his interlocutor. However, it took him little time to connect with the 300-strong audience who attended the Mercado de la Cosecha 3rd September.

His story is one of proximity. Arqueixal is a family-run farm which has transformed the production of cheese, yoghurt and ecological fresh milk into a tourist attraction which offers a complete experience and opportunity to interact with surroundings.

It’s the pride in what is one’s own that motivated Xose Luis to renovate a group of traditional houses in which to accommodate guests who want to experience for themselves the Galician rural way of life, “it’s not about turning it into a theme park”.

In his talk, one can observe how passion for the subject takes him onto more personal subjects linked to identity and the way to establish close links, first with the product, then with the client, and finally with the land.
