Galician hops will mark the difference in the new Vermut Rivera

The addition of the Cascade variety of hops to the Vermut Riverais the differentiating ingredient in this product that was presented during a pre-lunch event held at La Tita Rivera, our company’s refurbished premises in the centre of Vigo.   

The new Vermut Riverahas been developed by the Custom Drinks innovation team, in Chantada, and is added to the Hijos de Rivera product portfolio.

La Tita Rivera, the refurbished premises that our company has just inaugurated in the centre of Vigo, was the setting for the launch the  Vermut Rivera, the new product that joins the Hijos de Rivera product offer, with the intention of surprising fans of this drink with its own nuances. 

The Cascade hops variety, the growth of which in Spain, for the very first time, of which was supported by our company, is the differentiating feature of this product that was developed in the innovation laboratory at Custom Drinksin Chantada.

The company has worked on developing this product for two years, looking to add its own mark on such a popular drink.

José María Rivera, Director at Corporación Hijos de Rivera, explained the process involved until the moment of presentation of the company’s vermouth, a new product that the company had not explored until now. He wanted to highlight the involvement of the whole organization in the different stages of the process and the effort involved in wanting to present a reference quality and innovative drink. He added “we are extremely satisfied with the final result obtained after all the development process and we think that we have managed to give our vermouth its own personality.”

José Luis Olmedo, Head of Harvest Projects in Galicia, the company in charge of the cultivating and research of raw materials and their addition to Corporación Hijos de Rivera products, points out “botanicals are very important when formulating a drink like vermouth and, after a multitude of tests and trial, we discovered that the addition of a variety like Cascade was perfect for print the personality that we were looking for on our Vermut Rivera”.

The final result is vermouth with a complex flavour and aroma with botanicals (woodworm, orris root, and St John’s wort, among others) and a special touch that is the Cascade hop, with its elegantly bitter base, cultivated by us in Galicia.

The product is presented in a 75 cl bottle with a classic, retro that seeks to strengthen our sustainability values, encouraging re-use thanks to the swing metal top, allowing the bottle to be reused once empty. It is also presented in tap format enabling it to be served at the bar. 

Vermouth is an elegant drink with noble tradition that has made a comeback as an aperitif, and is one of the great ingredients for cocktail-making. Its basic formula goes back to the Ancient Greeks, but its commercial origin is in Italy, before it reached France and Spain and, from there, the rest of the world.
