MotoGP World Champions, with Álex Márquez and Team Estrella Galicia 0,0
Álex Márquez has won the Moto3 World Championship in a spectacular season finale at the Comunitat Valenciana Grand Prix. With the result obtained at yesterday’s race, the youngest member of the Márquez family fulfils his dream of becoming Moto3 World Champion. The title is also a milestone as, for the first time ever two brothers have become Motorcycling World Champions in the same season: Alex Márquez in Moto3 and Marc Márquez in MotoGP.
The perseverance shown by Álex in the second half of the Championship has been one of the weapons used by our young Estrella Galicia 0,0, rider that allowed him to reach the last race of the Championship in the lead and 11 points ahead. A difference which he used to his advantage in Valencia to claim the sought-after title, which was up in the air until the very last race.
En route to winning the title, Álex Márquez has managed to pick up 10 podiums and 3 victories this season, in addition to everything achieved last year – four podiums before his first World Championship win at the Japan GP. It was in 2012 when he premiered in our Estrella Galicia 0,0 team colours, and he did so by becoming Spain World Champion in Moto3 and making his debut in the World Championship with three brilliant performances as a wild card. Constant progression which has finally yielded its benefits with the well-deserved crown acknowledging him as the Moto3 World Champion in 2014.
Emilio Alzamora, Team Principal of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0, stated after the win: “We have made Álex Márquez’s and Team Estrella Galicia 0,0’s dream come true. This title is the result of great team work and thanks to the support of Estrella Galicia 0,0, Honda HRC and Repsol, because they have all allowed us to develop the great project that we embarked on at the beginning of the season and that has enabled us to have an even better finish”
In his way, our Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 ends a season to remember and is already dreaming of 2015 which could not look better with the three champions, one in each category, defending our colours. Next season, the Marquez brothers will join the current Moto2 World Champion, Tito Rabat, who will be fighting side by side with Alex for the Moto2 Championship.
